Catch Up: May

My 2016 unintentionally became "The Year I Never Blogged"
because it intentionally became "The Year I Learned How to Be a Mom,"
and I hate the empty space over in those little drop-down year menus to your right.
So, each month is getting a retroactive rewind post.

May:
Graduation and moving time! Michael received a few different scholarships and recognitions, including one for being the top of his dental school class and one given to a student specializing in oral surgery in honor of an oral surgeon who had recently passed away. The surgeon's wife was at the scholarship breakfast and meeting her was really special. Michael is such a good person and works so hard. Pregnancy was finally feeling more manageable, but I let it keep me from getting much packing done at all before graduation. Michael's parents helped us pack our Pod so much and we were so grateful for all their help. They are such hard workers! And they raised hard workers.

Jaren flew out to help us entertain Westin on the road trip and finish packing up the house. I have the best nieces and nephews! We met up with my "little sister" Madison one more time. We met up often for over two years and it was sad to leave her.  Kitty ran away the morning we left Indy... we had to call Dawn to help us get her out of the shed behind our fence. It was a two-hour delay and I was so annoyed! And we will never again try to give her Benadryl for a drive... she does just fine without it and giving it to her is worse than the whole drive itself. Dawn saved us that morning.

We stayed at Diana's in Iowa, Katie's in Denver, my parent's in Cedar, dropped off Kitty at a pet sitter, then drove up to Bear Lake for some Miner family time. It was a fun week of games, good food, boating, cave exploring, hiking, movies, talking, and just being all together. During all of this we were still trying to iron out a rental in Fresno and things kept falling through. I was so discouraged about that but kept praying things would just work out like they should.

Leaving Indianapolis was really hard. I absolutely loved our time there, and our ward, and our friends. That was a special stage of life. I can still picture the view from our second story bedroom window where I spent hours nursing my first baby. I can remember our dumb fights from our first year of marriage. I can hear the song from the ice cream truck that drove around Manchester Village WAY too often, or remember the summer nights sitting outside and seeing friends out for walks. There's just never going to be anything like that time. We grew and learned so much, experienced a lot of what we expected to and a lot that we didn't. Oh, Indiana. There's so much else I want to put into words right here but I can't. But my heart always feels the same when I think about our for years of calling Indy home.

Westin and Jonas

Westin was not super into the cave tour, but once you're in there you have to commit...

Michael's friend Blake also went on to specialize in oral surgery, and they worked a lot with Dr. Klene.

Zoo trip before graduation! I love that Dolphin Show.

A little slice from a mishap with Westin's Japanese helicopter toy.... daddy felt so bad!

Jaren came to help us move!

And to help us play Wii! Haha it was so fun having him there.

This hurt, I won't lie!

These friends. How I love them and always will! They are seriously forever favorites.

There are a lot more people in this picture than the week we all moved to Indianapolis at the same time!

Baby boy is growing!

Sweet Ty! Happy birthday!!!

We found our wedding sparklers as we packed so we ended our last night in Indy with a celebration with friends.

Time to pack this Pod.

So packed.

Except then we packed Kitty's carrier... but Michael found it!

I dropped my earring down the side of Ali and Matthias's bathroom vanity, but Michael always find a way to fix a problem!
