Two Years Today

I'm interrupting this month of blog-silence for a happy celebration. Today we have been married for two years! It's hard to believe we were married for just two months when we made our move to Indiana, and now our four years here are already at the halfway point.

Look at that beautiful spring day at the Jordan River Temple. April 21, 2012 was just perfect all around. It was the bluest sky I think I've ever seen, brightest flowers, happiest people. We are two lucky people.

You should know, my blog-silence is stemming from the oh-so-long post about our spring break in Tokyo that I need to finish putting together. Can't skip that. So, everything post-Tokyo has been put into the waiting line. Which is a shame, really, because we've been really living it up around here. Paint ball excursions, Thunder Over Louisville, Easter fun, and some hard core spring cleaning. But I won't blog about that last one.

But I couldn't let my procrastination skip over this happy day - two years is exciting stuff! And this Sunday will mark four years since the first time I ever met Michael Daetwyler, in the Salt Lake City airport. Love at first sight. Except not really because we spent a couple years making things way too complicated, BUT, now we get to look back and remember it as love at first sight. And he's still just as dreamy as ever. We're having a good time over here.

Happy Anniversary, Michael!

Nine.

1. He makes us lunch every morning - the best peanut butter and honey sandwiches I've ever had (really though). And he always gives himself the end piece.

2. He lets us have flannel sheets on the bed even though I can tell he kind of hates them.

3. He made it until last Saturday without ever getting a speeding ticket. :)

4. He works harder than anyone I know. Dental school's got nothing on him.

5. When he had MLK Day off school but I had to go to work, he did my LEAST favorite chore in the world. Our kitchen floor never looked so good. (Really...it's never looked this good. I'm the worst.)

6. He says hilarious things in his almost-sleep.

7. He's going to get me a puppy someday. (And he will be its favorite.)

8. He plays hard with kids. They think it's the best.

9. He doesn't even know how good he is...because he has never thought of being any other way.

And those are just nine (9) of the MANY reasons I love this man.

Happy nine months of marriage!

A Confession

My two best friends are on missions. And I haven't written them a letter yet.

There, now that it's off my chest, I'm going to throw in some justification.

One did up and leave me one month before my wedding.
And one did leave me while I was on my honeymoon.

Poor planning, right? Rude? No?

Ok, it's true. They win.

But now that it's out there in the open, I'll get two loooooong letters off this week. Promise.

Aren't they beautiful? Above is Kindal (Sister Erickson) in Alaska with me,
when we up and moved there for a summer. That was one of the best decisions we ever made.
I miss her like crazy! Multiple times a week I pick up the phone to call her,
then I remember Wisconsin gets her for 18 months, and I get sad all over again.
And writing a letter full of everything I would tell her in those phone calls
will take quite. a. while.

She'll love it :)

And here is beautiful Kendra (Sister Haynie). Last time I saw her was at my reception line,
so it was all a blur. I started to tell her it was going to be the last time I'd see her before her mission,
but she wouldn't let me. Just stamped out that goodbye completely :)

Texas is loving her, everyone does. She is wonderful.
She even called me out publicly in her latest email for not writing her....ouch.

So. Enough complaining about my two besties leaving me for 18 months,
because they're doing exactly what they should be doing.

I love them. And miss them. And will be writing them this week!

You Wanna Lick the Beater?

Salmonella. That's what your mom says when you want to eat more cookies in their natural doughy state before the oven gets a say.

But licking the beaters is always harmless, right? We beat the system.
