Slowing Down Summer

Michael:
placed more implants this week and really likes doing more of what he's going to be doing in life. He had late nights and we didn't see much of him until this weekend. We took the boys bowling for the first time on Saturday and it was kind of a bust. Westin loved it but Bennett could not understand the rotation of the take turns/two turns deal, and he was too overtired to deal. But it was fun overall :)

Maddie:
speaking of overtired Bennett, I tried to take away his binky this week because this is the age we did that with Westin. He immediately cut his naps in half and woke up at 5am instead of 7am everyday, so we felt the change hard. I have since gone back to giving it to him only when he's sleeping and we're trying to figure out how to have him leave it in his bed without melting down. Swimming with friends this week a few times helped our long days. This week felt like our first month of residency... I just have to get used to long days again after all our fun summer plans and time with family.

Westin:
had fun swimming without his floaties and trying new things. He's always hoping for popcorn these days, at any time of the day :) He can run so far on our walks and I'm always impressed by how much ground he'll cover. We walk our two miles right when we wake up and then come home to eat breakfast. It's too hot to go any other time of day!

Bennett:
had a terrible week with that binky transition. I feel so bad that he was so overtired by the end of it all. Hopefully going back to night-only binky is the right thing to do here... why can't kids all be the very same so that you only have to figure out mothering the first time :)

Westin's first Mario Kart experience

Standard toddler requested meal around here. Fried eggs, cottage cheese, toast, fruit. I think both my boys are in growth spurts because they are eating SO MUCH this week.

Poor Bennett. Post half-nap.

Feeling like a sled dog situation.

Dax has grown pretty comfortable over here.

Tinkergarten play.

We brought our Zoo Day to the house.

Tired, tired boy this week.

My boys love popcorn as much as Michael and I do.
