Bennett is 2!
We were going to move his birthday to Saturday since Michael would be home all day, but when Wednesday came around I couldn't just ignore his birthday! We went to library story time and got him tacos for lunch. Michael made it home at 6:00 so we left for Texas Roadhouse because those rolls would be Bennett's ideal birthday dinner :) Then on Friday we did his candles and presents. I took him to the store by himself while Westin was at preschool on Friday, and showed him a couple pairs of sunglasses and a couple stuffed animals. He knew immediately that he wanted the blue sunglasses and the stuffed dog, and he was a happy camper.
Bennett is so joyful. He loves to imitate what Westin does. Loves to say no. Loves to give kisses, blow kisses, eskimo kisses, cheek kisses, lip kisses, make kissing sounds -- lots of love. He is so easy to put to bed and loves when it is bedtime and nap time. If we spend too long playing during bedtime he'll take you by the hand to his bed and want to get inside. Still using a binky at night and naps. No potty training yet but I think we'll start soon. He loves books, cars, stuffed animals, loves saying the word turtle, likes car rides if he has a book, loves carbs. He goes to bed early and gets up early, but sometimes he'll sleep in if we keep him up late. He's still a mama's boy but right on the edge of being won over by daddy. He loves to growl and pretend to be a monster, loves to "jump", loves puzzles, loves animals, loves Daniel Tiger, loves his brother, gives the best running hugs to daddy when he gets home from work, and he loves looking at pictures of our family in all the books that I make.
Bennett is such a special soul! I can't believe he's two, and I can't believe he's mine.
Conference weekend was the best. Michael had the whole weekend off, and he worked on so much while listening to conference. I cross stitched the whole weekend while listening, my little side gig is going to get pretty busy for Christmas time. I need to decide how many I can actually take on, but learning there are 36 new cheesy Christmas movies coming out this year upped my availability.
Other moments from the week: Pumpkin waffles, rough swimming lessons, fun weekend walks, This is Us, social media fast, Michael and the boys to a "meat and greet" with the guys and kids in the ward Saturday night, Target trip with Emily like old times in the dorms, turtle present from Emma for Bennett, Westin loving scissors practice, Westin loving somersaults, Instant Pot successes, fall cleaning, cool temps, open windows, new Marco Polo group with my family, early bedtimes, first fall decorations purchased, two cross stitch orders finished ... it felt like a good week and a great weekend!

My friend LoRane came over to teach me to make her special bread between conference sessions on Sunday. She's 82 and is always busy! |
I looked into the living room and saw both boys eating their snacks like a dog. Keeping it classy. |
Bennett was in heaven with this little pup around. |
Luckily this little guy loves cuddling and attention, so these two got along great all weekend. |
Finally time for my favorite pumpkin chocolate chip cookies! |
And Rosie was around this weekend too... She loves cuddling us when the crazy kids are asleep. |
Westin is not as into animals as Bennett is but he did love holding this little sweet Shelby girl. |
Can you find Shelby? |
Conference activities! They worked for about a session, they napped for both afternoon sessions, and Sunday morning session was kind of just a fiasco. Winning overall. |
Birthday pumpkin cookies! |
V is for Volcanos! Sunbeam preschool at Mara's house. |
Their newest obsession is Wild Kratts. |
Mr. T loved the rainy days! He came out to eat all the worms on the sidewalk. |
I found a cockroach, smashed it and brought it to Mr. T while the boys got excited about watching him eat it. Those are the moments that I'm fully aware I'm living the boy mom life. |
All the Texas Roadhouse rolls for his birthday. |

Getting ready for swim! |
