Keystone Weekend

Another week of virtual learning had us running away to the mountains for the long weekend. Katie was so nice to let us stay in their condo in Keystone and we explored some new area! Our boys were good hikers, which doesn't mean they didn't complain and doesn't mean the trip wasn't without the little-kid hard parts... it's just worth it and they seem to only remember the good stuff.

Michael planned the fun, I planned the food and kids, and we had a good few days! We left Friday, and everything was going wrong. Multiple calls came in for Michael when the kids were already buckled in the car, still needed gas, etc. etc., until we hit the road when it was already 5:40. So we grabbed Wendy's for the car. and just went, even though the trip was feeling ominous.

We made it there around 9pm, and the boys opted to sleep on the floor in their sleeping bags instead of the queen bed. Weirdos. They changed their mind the next night :) Camden slept in our bathroom and he slept sooo well all three nights, totally loved the dark. It made me committed to finding blackout curtains for his room now that we're back home. We hiked Rainbow Lakes trail (saw a moose!), Loveland Pass, Sally Barber Mine Trail, another lake trail I'm not remembering... plus walked through Frisco and took the Breckenridge Gondola up the mountain. They had some life size games set up on the ice rink for the summer and seeing Westin spot the life size Connect Four was so fun. He was sad the entire time that I didn't pack any crayons or paper. When he got home he immediately colored pictures of all of his favorite parts of the vacation and had me staple them into a book. These boys are so fun. And really loud.

Other things from this week: Bennett started (online) speech therapy and his therapist seems great. He participates MUCH more in that than his online preschool meetings with lots of other kids. I'm still painting, my goal is two hours every day. This week was the window trim in the piano room, and all the window frames black. That's a tedious process and took much longer than I expected. Now I need to do the same thing to the dining room window, plus the trim/molding in there, then we can paint some WALLS which is so satisfying. We also rode bikes to the school to get lunch once this week and the boys loved that. I LOVE that Westin can ride a bike. It is so much fun.

Michael was excited the birds cleaned out his feeder,
but then I told him who REALLY had a full belly.

Didn't leave a single seed.

Before... feeling so much better with those huge heavy green floral drapes down.
I'm seriously curious to know if those were original with the house.
Speech therapy on the kitchen floor with magnets because he was not excited to get back on a screen.
Things looked up when his therapist played Baby Shark though.

Always coloring. Always saving all coloring.
Here comes the black!

This step of my to do list took WAY longer than anticipated.

The package game around here is getting ridiculous.
Now that we have some bar stools I think we're done for a while --
the rest of the stuff can wait for a few months.

Documenting the chaos...

Chaos continued: Dining room turned school station.

Chaos continued: speech therapy aftermath
Masks and vaca.

Next week looks interesting...

So fun to see the moose in that lake!
A biker told us he almost ran into one so we went looking for it,
and found it on the other side! Then he walked into the lake,
so we came back around and watched him for a while.

Someone gave them a bag of fish food and they were so thrilled.
People are so nice here.

Westin was "hunting" with this stick this whole hike,
sometimes putting it away in his shirt.
He kept saying that it was his job to find the food,
daddy's job to catch the food, and my job to season the food.
Not a far stretch from how things really do happen around here when it comes down to it.
Camden kept majorly sleeping in since he was in total darkness.
He had to go straight from bed into the car for our hikes,
and eat breakfast on the go with tired eyes :)

They LOVED this Gondola ride. It was so cute.

Bennett takes such good care of Camden lately.
He would get a little tired of the Ergo here and there
and Bennett was so good to make him laugh or hold his hand.
